The Artist Who DIsappeared

A captivating search for a missing artist on a remote Scottish island becomes a meditation on creativity, belonging and the traces we leave behind.

Synopsis: When enigmatic artist Sergei Ivanov disappears without explanation from the remote Orkney island of Papa Westray, filmmaker David Kew begins an unexpected journey. Initially invited to document Sergei’s internationally acclaimed Papay Gyro Nights arts festival, David is soon drawn into a compelling mystery. What begins as a portrait of an outsider artist becomes something deeper — an exploration of grief, memory and the enduring power of community and art. Interweaving festival footage, intimate interviews and lyrical storytelling, The Artist Who Disappeared is a haunting documentary set against the elemental beauty of the far north.
